Southern Exposure Seed Exchange is a wonderful source for heirloom seeds and other open-pollinated (non-hybrid) seeds with an emphasis on vegetables, flowers, and herbs that grow well in the Mid-Atlantic region. We support seed saving and traditional seed breeding. Seed savers and breeders are to thank for our rich selection and we will do whatever we can to support our customers and associates to carry on this noble tradition.

The Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants, established at Monticello in 1987, collects, preserves, and distributes historic plant varieties and strives to promote greater appreciation for the origins and evolution of garden plants.
Virginia Master Gardeners
Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners (VCE-MGs) are volunteers with Extension dedicated to working with the community to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices through sustainable landscape management educational Programs. The five counties (Louisa, Fluvanna, Albemarle, Green, and Nelson) of Piedmont Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners are proud to add the Heritage Harvest Festival to the many community educational programs they support.

Vintage Virginia Apples
Vintage Virginia Apples was founded in 2000. It grows more than
200 varieties of apples and other tree fruits that have fallen into
obscurity or just do not fit the needs of today's commercial systems.
Rural Ridge is a family-run orchard dedicated to exploring the
apples that thrive in Albemarle County, Virginia. Thomas Jefferson
experimented with 18 or more varieties of apples at Monticello, only a
few miles from our orchard. Rural Ridge grows several of the varieties
he chose, as well as hundreds of other old-fashioned varieties that
offer delightful alternatives to the few currently available in
grocery stores.

Virginia. The companion web site supplements the newsletter, including
a cookbook with all of the recipes mentioned IN THE KITCHEN.
Local home cooks are interviewed along with local growers and food

caterers, and adventurers who search for fine foods everywhere.
