Southern Exposure Seed Exchange specializes in heirloom
seeds and other open-pollinated
(non-hybrid) seeds - especially varieties suited to the Mid-Atlantic region. We offer information and supplies for seed saving and traditional seed breeding and do whatever we can to support our customers and associates to carry on this noble tradition.
We do extensive germination and purity testing of our seeds and nursery
stock. We want your plants to excel.
Most seed savers who raise our seeds use traditional natural methods. However, some opt not to become certified organic. The new USDA Organic rules state that in order to grow Certified Organic produce, growers must plant Certified Organic seeds if suitable certified seeds are available. We are therefore committed to offering organic seeds whenever possible of varieties that are well-suited to market growers. Our non-certified but philosophically organic growers raise seeds that are more suited for home use.
