Spring Plants: Live Plants & Rhizomes

Available for pre-order online only: Ginger plants, Turmeric plants, and Turmeric rhizomes. Ginger and turmeric ship in April for late spring planting. Grow these popular rhizomes in your garden or greenhouse for medicinal uses, delicious dishes, and refreshing juices. Limited quantities, available now for shipment in April (order with your seeds to save on shipping).

PERENNIAL ONIONS AND LEEKS: For the second year, we're offering limited quantities of live White multiplier onion plants and perennial leeks plants! Order before they're gone! Available now for shipment in spring (order with your seeds to save on shipping).

Seeds to Sow this Month

Sow Indoors: we're sowing flats of peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, kale, collards, bok choi and Chinese cabbage. Keep seeds in their optimum germination temperature range: the University of California provides this very useful Seed Germination Soil Temperature table.

Outside we're direct sowing peas, favas, and greens. We recommend pre-sprouting peas before sowing.

Raring to sow cool season flowers? Try easy-to-grow Calendula (for lovely edible petals to mix into salads, plus medicinal uses), old-fashioned Bachelor's Button, Poppies, Sweet Alyssum, and showy Larkspur.
