 95 days. In the mid-Atlantic region, it can be difficult to over-winter artichokes. 'Imperial Star' was the first artichoke bred to produce in one season. Sow indoors 2 months before the last frost date for your area, 1/2" apart and 1/4" deep. Germinate at 70--80degrees F, then transplant to 2--4" pots at 60--70degrees F day and 50--60degrees F night; by two months transplant outdoors, 2--3' apart and protect from frost.
