[Heirloom of Don Fowler who obtained it in 1981 from a friend whose relatives settled in Oregon. Introduced 1986 by SESE.] Plants are compact (16" tall), bearing 5" long, slender round stringless pods containing up to 7 dark-brown beans per pod. Plants are exceedingly productive and bear well under environmental extremes, especially heat and drought. Large leaves suppress weeds. Pods are tender, flavorful, crisp, and of excellent culinary quality. 'Fowler' has the best combination of flavor, productivity, growth habit, and hardiness we have seen in a bush bean. 14g
