Dates from the Virginia side of the Potomac river before 1860.] After the Civil War it was carried west by the Barley family to Tehama County, California, where it has been grown for over 125 years. 'Potomac' is a vigorous climber and heavy producer of 6-1/2 in. long, slightly curved, stringless snap beans containing an average of 8 seeds per pod. The snap beans are of excellent quality. The dried 5/8 in. long seeds are somewhat flattened in shape and dry to a dark purple-black color. The large trifoliate leaves range from 6 to 10 in. across. Seed Saver Packet TM (12 g, 32 seeds)
