(Solanum integrifolium) [Introduced 1990 by SESE. Heirloom originally from Turkey, more recently from Italy.] Miniature orange-red fruits (2-3 oz) look like tomatoes. 4 ft. tall plants are spineless and very attractive when laden with fruit. At edible harvest, the fruits are green-striped and sweet flavored. Harvest before fruits turn red, else the skins will be bitter. Bite-sized, smaller fruits can simply be cut in half for cooking. Pkt.
