In Hurricane, WV, Julie Schaer has a 1½ acre garden on land that has been in her family for many generations. Her husband Nick and their two young children also help in the garden, which mostly produces food for the family, including lots of volunteer ground cherries. Her daughter takes great interest in the garden. Julie has also grown Lee okra seed for us regularly, and sold produce through her local natural foods coop. This year, family responsibilities are taking up more of her time, but she grew a seed crop of White Heron cucumber. Her daughter loves the garden.
